Theoretical Transport Analysis of Density limit with Radial Electric Field in Helical Plasmas

چکیده

The confinement property in helical toroidal plasmas is clarified. The analysis is performed by use of the one-dimensional transport equations with the effect of the radiative loss and the radial profile of the electric field. The analytical results in the edge region show the steep gradient in the electron temperature, which indicates the transport barrier formation. Because of the rapid increase of the radiative loss at the low electron temperature, the anomalous heat diffusivity is reduced near the edge. Next, the efficiency of the heating power input in the presence of the radiative loss is studied. The scaling of the critical density in helical devices is also derived.

Impurity Behavior in ITER and Helical Burning Plasmas with Internal Transport Barriers

The impurity transport simulation code TOTAL (TOroidal Transport Analysis Linkage) consisting of 1-D(dimensional) transport and 2or 3-D equilibrium is developed for analyzing tokamak and helical burning plasmas controlled by feedback scheme with gas puffing, pellet fueling injection and heating power modulations. In this code multi-species of impurity ions can be treated including neoclassical ...

Regulation of Turbulent Transport in Neoclassically Optimized Helical Configurations with Radial Electric Fields

Gyrokinetic Vlasov simulations of the ion temperature gradient turbulence demonstrate reduction of the turbulent transport with enhanced zonal-flow generation in the neoclassically optimized helical configuration as predicted by the theoretical analysis of the zonal-flow response. The inward-shifted plasma of the Large Helical Device, thus, has better confinement than that with the standard mag...

Physics of Electron Internal Transport Barrier in Toroidal Helical Plasmas

The role of zonal flows in the formation of the transport barrier in the helical plasmas is analyzed using the transport code. A set of one-dimensional transport equations is analyzed, including the effect of zonal flows. The turbulent transport coefficient is shown to be suppressed when the plasma state changes from the weak negative radial electric field to the strong positive one. This bifur...

Characteristics of High-Ion-Temperature Plasmas heated by Neutral Beams in the Large Helical Device

Improvement of ion heat transport in Heliotron plasmas has been realized by upgrade of ion heating power by using low energy neutral beam (NB) in the Large Helical Device (LHD). Ion internal transport barrier (ITB) (the peaked profile of ion temperature (Ti) with steep gradient in the core region) has been formed and the central Ti of 6.8 keV has been achieved in hydrogen plasma with the line-a...

Modification to the Toroidal Rotation Velocity and Radial Electric Field by Pellet Injection in DIII-D

The ability to modify and control the radial electric field and its radial derivative can lead to direct control of radial transport of plasma in a toroidal device. In the DIII-D tokamak, the injection of deuterium pellets is being investigated as a means of controlling the toroidal rotation velocity and the radial electric field, Er. Solid deuterium cylindrical pellets of 1.8mm and 2.7mm diame...
